Reflections Jone

First  reflection
What did you do? (Write down significant facts to back up your reasons)
I did different workouts to keep improving my dancing. I tried to keep the frequency of training three times every week, but sometimes I have to admit I've only managed to do it twice per week.

How did you do it? (provide specific evidence (audio, visual…)

I trained using Mikele´s video as an example.

What did you learn? Would you make any suggestions for future practice?
I learned to distinguish when you start dancing and basic steps of the dance. For my future practices I realized that I will go stopping the video to learn all the steps, because I need more time to do all of them.

Where did your knowledge come from? Which sources did you choose/use?

As I mentioned before I used the video of Mikele to learn the steps.

What type of strategies and resources have you used when coming across obstacles?
I used the video to see what I do in an objective manner.By doing this I've seen on what steps I usually do wrong. In the next week I will try to do it better little by little.

What type of involvement have you had so far in the project?
I think I've had a successful participation during this period. So I am going to keep this organization on the next weeks. I will try to improve the communication with my other mates because we only used to speak once per week to to share our questions and experiences and it will be important to do it more frequently.

Which skills do you think you have acquired?
I managed to have fun dancing and I am starting to know how to move with basque music, but I still have a long way. I have also a lot of skills to acquire yet.

What type of strategies and resources are you using so as to improve your language skills?
I usually go to English classes five hours a week and there I usually do grammar and different writings. Also, we have speaking lessons once per two weeks. In addition I continually have homeworks to continue improving my English.

In addition, I have started to read a book called “ The secret diary of Adrian Mole”. It has much new vocabulary, so I am reading it very little by little.

How do you feel about the project so far? Talk about your feelings and emotions.
I feel very excited to learn this dance on my own this four weeks. In our group of friends have always been very interested in the Basque dances, but none of us ever endeavored to learn, so that’s why it is so important for me to learn it. I'm thrilled to be teaching to my friends what I am learning, because in two years one friend is going to marry.

Third reflection

What did you do? (Write down significant facts to back up your reasons)
1.       In these weeks I had more free time that is why I had the opportunity to train three times every week.  Also, I had the choice to met Goiatz and Ione in Eskoriatza, so we used that time to train all together. Then, we shared our videos to Iosu and Peio so they could see what we did. And after, we uploaded all our evidences to our blog.

How did you do it? (provide specific evidence (audio, visual…)
1.   I trained using Mikele´s video as an example in my personal trainings, but I also had the opportunity to compare my dance with my group mates records. In addition, I recorded two videos, one dancing alone and another with Goiatz and Ione.
Moreover, I realized that some of my children were learning Basque Dances, so I spoke with them about it. After I insisted to show me what they knew about the Aurresku they danced to me once, and I realized that they did it better than me. Also, I could see that they dance the Aurresku different. I tried to record them the teacher told me that we had not time to finish all the works, so I could not do nothing about it.

What did you learn? Would you make any suggestions for future practice?
1.   I have learned to connect better the different steps, but I continue very arrhythmic. I could conclude that I dance better when I do not think what I should do or which step I should dance. Why I think that? I think that because I can defend myself dancing at a disco perfectly, but in this case I feel very bad dancing. So, I will learn to dance  not thinking about the steps, I will try to learn just to dance with the music and not with my mind, but it is not easy for me.

Where did your knowledge come from? Which sources did you choose/use?
As I mentioned before I used the video of Mikele to learn the steps, and I also used the dance of my friends to compare with my dance.

What type of strategies and resources have you used when coming across obstacles?
1.  I used the video to see what I do in an objective manner.  Doing this I've seen on what steps I usually do wrong. And also, as I trained my dance on the kitchen I had the opportunity to be judge by my parents. I realized that my parents are strictest than me, they laugh a lot of me because I am very arrhythmic
Also, I compared my dance with my friend’s dances, doing this we could see which steps were the hardest for us or how to coordinate our bodies.

What type of involvement have you had so far in the project?
1.   I think I've had a successful participation during this period. I tried very hard to learn the steps and to learn how to move. Also, I have spoken with my partners all the weeks to know what they were doing and to explain them my problems with differents steps.
Which skills do you think you have acquired?
I a           I acquired different skills like:

  • To know how to move with music
  • To be able to coordinate our bodies
  • Learn to enjoy dancing

What type of strategies and resources are you using so as to improve your language skills?
I usually go to English classes five hours a week and there I usually do grammar and different writings. Also, they had changed our class system and we have speaking lessons every week. In the last week I had to do a presentation alone in front of the whole class, I was very scared and nervous. I could make the presentation but I felt very insecure, so I will continue practicing to improve. Partners
In addition, I continually have homeworks to continue improving my English at home and I finishing reading the book I took, so in Christmas I will start reading the book they gave us in Hizkuntza Eskola for the exam.

How do you feel about the project so far? Talk about your feelings and emotions.
In this period I felt better, I continue been very arrhythmic, but I am having fun, so I don’t mind at all. I realized that sometimes we think that we are bad doing something new, because we want to learn it fast and easy and this is not possible always. For example, in this case, we are trying to learn how to dance Aurresku and it is not an easy way for me, because I have never gone to dance classes. But I know that I will learn it perfectly if I continue training all the weeks, because working hard or putting interest is the way to get the goals we suggest. And, also, it is easier to get the goals if we work on group.
